The dam Daecheong is a dam with hydroelectric power plant in the province of North Chungcheong , South Korea . She dams the passage to a reservoir. The associated power plant has an installed capacity of 90 MW . Daejeon is about 15 km south of the dam .
The first plans for the construction of the dam were carried out in 1968. Construction of the dam began in 1975; it was completed in 1980. In addition to generating electricity, the dam is also used for flood protection and drinking water supply. It is owned by the Korea Water Resources Corporation .
Barrier structure
The shut-off is a combination of a gravity dam of concrete on the right and a rockfill dam on the left side of the river. The height of the barrier structure is 72 m; the length of the wall and dam crest is a total of 495 m. The width of the dam is 58 m at the base and 6 m at the top. The volume of the structure is 1.234 million m³. The weir system with the six weir fields is located in the middle of the river; A maximum of 6000 m³ / s can be discharged via them.
Reservoir
When the reservoir is fully blocked, it extends over an area of around 72.8 km², over a length of 80 km and holds 1.5 billion m³ of water; this makes it the third largest lake in South Korea.
power plant
The power plant has an installed capacity of 90 MW . The average annual production is 240 million kWh . Each of the two Francis turbines in the power plant has a maximum output of 45 MW. The machine house is on the right side of the river at the foot of the dam.
