The Husinec dam ( Vodní nádrž Husinec in Czech ) is a drinking water dam in the Czech Republic .

geography

The dam is located two kilometers south of Husinec and two and a half kilometers north of Prachatice in a valley in the Bohemian Forest foothills that is largely surrounded by forests and dams the Blanice . It forms the southernmost part of the Husinec cadastral district. Its dam is located between the hills Hrádek (565 m) and Výrovčice (708 m). The Šibeniční vrch (681 m) and the Výrovec (686 m) rise south of the reservoir. Surrounding villages are Husinec and Sirkovna in the north, Výrov and Těšovice in the Northeast, Belecska Lhota, Vojtášek and Městská Lhotka in the east, Ostrov in the southeast, Probošt Stare Prachatice, Kahov and Podolí to the south, Oseky and Zábrdí in the southwest, Podedvorský Mlýn Dvory in the west and Horouty in the northwest. A side road between Husinec and Prachatice leads over the top of the dam.

history

The dam was built between 1934 and 1939 to protect against floods and to regulate the water level of the Blanice. The uninhabited floodplain below the confluence of the Schwarzbach was flooded. The project for this came about as early as 1930. As a result of the Munich Agreement , which made the Blanice the border water between the German Empire and the "remaining Czech Republic" in this area, there were brief construction delays. In the end, the entire dam was awarded to the "remaining Czech Republic". After construction was completed, the Prachatitz – Hussinetz border crossing between the German Reich and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was set up on the dam in 1940 . In 1953 a small power station with the Kaplan turbine from ČKD Blansko with an output of 630 kW was set up. Since 1962, the dam has been used to supply drinking water to the city of Prachatice, which built a waterworks on Šibeniční vrch. In 1999 the hydroelectric power plant operated by AQUA Energie sro from Hamr was renovated. Its annual electricity production is 1800 MWh.
