The Blanice , also Vodňanská Blanice (German Flanitz , on the lower reaches of Blanitz ), is a right tributary of the Otava in the Czech Republic.

course

The Blanice rises west of the extinct village Zlatá ( Goldberg ) on the Boletice military training area in the Želnavská hornatina in the Bohemian Forest . Its source lies on the saddle between the Lysá ( Lissiberg , 1228 m) and the Zlatovec ( Goldberg , 1042 m).

After leaving the military area, the villages Arnoštov, Spálenec and Blažejovice are located on their run through a gentle valley over the mountain ridge to the northwest through the Horní Blanice nature reserve. Below the Blanický mlýn ( Flanitzmühle ) the river winds in deep loops through the mountains. On a rock spur surrounded on three sides are the remains of Hus Castle ( Burg Gans ) on the right. At Řepešín the Blanice turns to the northeast. On the further course there are the villages Záblatí , Kratušín , Zábrdí and Dvory . To the north of Prachatice , the river is dammed in the Husinec reservoir, which was created as a drinking water reservoir. Husinec and Těšovice follow downstream . Here the valley of the Blanice widens and the river enters the hilly landscape of the Bohemian Forest foothills. Between Běleč and Putim, the railway from Prachatice to Písek follows the course of the Blanice. Via Žíchovec, Strunkovice nad Blanicí , Blanice, Blanička, Čichtice, Hájek , Bavorovské Svobodné Hory and Bavorov , the Blanice flows on the left past the Svobodná hora ( open mountain range , 640 m). Subsequently, the river forms a wide alluvial valley with only a slight gradient, in which there are numerous ponds and thrown river branches. Svinětice, Pražák, Vitice, Krašlovice , Vodňany , Milenovice and Protivín lie along the Blanice . Above Myšenec the river turns to the northwest and flows past Klokočín, Maletice, Skály , Heřmaň and Putim . Opposite the village of Zátaví the Blanice flows after 94.7 km at 362 m above sea level. M. in the Otava. Its catchment area is 862 km².

In 1919, a narrow-gauge forest railway began operating in the upper Blanice valley, which was used to transport calamity wood from the forests of the Bohemian Forest. It led from the Brenntenberg (Spálenec) railway station as a connecting line on the Číčenice – Haidmühle line up to the Lange Au at the foot of the Langeberg (Dlouhý hřbet).
