history

The first written mention of Skály comes from 1365, when the town was sold to Oldřich Stěně von Dobev by the Lords of Rosenberg . Another mention can be found in an entry of the feudal court from 1397, where a Jan von Skály was mentioned.

In 1430 King Sigismund had the Skály feudal estate, along with the neighboring towns of Budičovice and Štětice, transferred to Jan Kočka von Skály. Kočka had three sons Příbík, Václav, Jan and Aleš and a daughter Kateřina. Kateřina received in 1509 by Vladislav II confirmed the property rights over the feudal estate. Around 1536 she sold the Skály fief to Kašpar Litochleba von Strachotín. He probably built a fortress or an older mansion into one. The fortress was first mentioned in 1543 when Kašpar's daughter Anna von Strachotín sold all of the goods to Diviš Malovec from Malovice . The new lord had expanded his Libějovice estate with this property . It is possible that the foundation walls of the fortress from the Renaissance period are still partially preserved in the current manor walls of the former farm No. 24.

Baroque farm in Skály

From the end of the 16th century until 1623, Skály belonged to the town of Písek, when Jean de Merode bought it. He then sold Skály to Count Buquoy . Another owner became Prince Schwarzenberg in 1800 . In 1840, Skal consisted of 43 houses with 189 inhabitants. There was an inn and a farm in the village. The latter belonged together with four houses to the Libiegitz rule . The parish was Heřman . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subject to the allodial rule Protivin, including the Fideikommissgut Radomielitz.

The Schwarzenberg princes kept the local estate until the land reform in 1923. There is no church and no cemetery in the village. The village of Skály belongs to the parish of Heřmaň , which is 2 km to the north-west. There was also a primary school in Heřmaň, which the children attended up to fourth grade. The remaining years of compulsory schooling then went to the Protivín primary school.

In addition to the municipal office, there is also the local grocery store on the village square, which is in the same building. Furthermore the restaurant, the bus stop and the chapel. There are some entrepreneurs and farmers in the community. Skály is part of the Blanice-Otava region and a member of the voluntary local association Zlatý Vrch.

Budičovice

The first mention of the small settlement with a homestead comes from written records from 1399 in connection with Onsoni from Budičovice. Another entry was made in 1462, where Budičovice Matěj Zák belonged. In 1545 Budičovice belonged to the knight Václav Želízko von Tourový. He sold it in 1558 to the Vilém Čejkovský of Čejkovy, who was also the lord of Božovice. Later the manor came to the Protivín commune and after the acquisition of Hluboká it came to the Písek commune.
