history
The first news about the village of Staré Sedlo comes from the year 1288. The existence of a parish church has also been documented since the end of the 13th century.
Until the replacement of patrimonial rule in 1848, the place was part of the Worlik rule and its history was closely connected to the castle. In 1850 the municipality of Orlík was established, to which the districts Králova Lhota , Staré Sedlo, Probulov and Žďákov u Starého Sedla belonged. In 1880 the municipality Staré Sedlo was formed with the districts Orlík and Žďákov u Starého Sedla; Králova Lhota and Probulov became independent.
Between 1956 and 1961 the Orlík dam was built on the Vltava , in which Žďákov sank. In 1963 the name of the famous castle was transferred to the community.
The district Višňovka was created in the 1950s southwest of Staré Sedlo in connection with the construction of the dam.
Community structure
The municipality Orlík nad Vltavou consists of the districts Staré Sedlo ( Altsattel ) and Višňovka and the locality Orlík ( Worlik ). The former district of Žďákov u Starého Sedla ( Schdakow bei Altsattel ) was flooded after 1957.
