The Rebordelo dam ( Portuguese Barragem de Rebordelo ) is located in the northern region of Portugal in the Bragança district . It dams the Rabaçal , the right (western) source river of the Tua, to a reservoir. The Rabaçal forms the border between the districts of Bragança and Vila Real at this point . The eponymous community Rebordelo is located about one kilometer southeast of the dam. The Bouçoais-Sonim dam is located about two kilometers downstream .
The project to build the dam started in 1999. The construction was completed in 2004. The dam is used to generate electricity. It is owned by GERCO, Sociedade de Engenharia Electrotécnica SA (GERCO).
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is a weight and arch dam made of concrete with a height of 35.5 m above the foundation level . The top of the wall is at a height of 387.5 m above sea level . The length of the top of the wall is 127 m. The volume of the structure is 19,000 m³.
The dam wall has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 30 m³ / s can be discharged via the bottom outlet, and a maximum of 1,480 m³ / s via the flood discharge. The design flood is 1,380 m³ / s; the probability of this event occurring was determined to be once every 100 years.
Reservoir
With a normal storage target of 380 m (maximum 386 m at high water), the reservoir extends over an area of around 0.46 km² and holds 3.13 million m³ of water. The minimum storage target is 378.5 m.
power plant
A Kaplan turbine with a maximum output of 8.75 MW is installed. The average annual production is 24 million kWh .
The power plant is owned by GERCO but is operated by Hidroeléctrica do Rabaçal Ponte, Lda. operated.
