The Větřkovice dam (Czech: Vodní nádrž Větřkovice or also: Přehrada Větřkovice ) is a process water dam in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers northeast of Kopřivnice in the district Větřkovice u Lubiny . Dammed waters are the Svěcený potok and the Zadní potok.

The dam is located at the foot of the Palkovické hůrky in the Příborská pahorkatina ( Freiberg hill country ). To the east rises the Větřkovická hůrka (447 m nm), in the southeast the Velová (390 m nm).

Surrounding places are Hájov in the north, Horní Sklenov in the northeast, Mniší and Vlčovice in the south and Větřkovice in the west.

history

The dam was built in 1973–1975 as a process water storage facility for the Tatra Works Kopřivnice and replaced the pumping station on the Mlýnská struha in Drnholec . On November 21, 1975, after a construction period of 28 months, the dam was ceremoniously handed over. The construction cost was CZK 25 million.

Due to the long-term lack of precipitation, the water level of the reservoir fell sharply in the 2010s, so that expensive water refills from the Lubina became necessary. At the beginning of 2016, the reservoir was rededicated from the watercourse to the pond by the owner Tatra Trucks for reasons of fishing law. A new buffet building with toilet facilities was opened in summer 2019.

use

The reservoir with its grassy banks serves primarily as a water reservoir for the Tatra trucks and the Kopřivnice industrial area, as well as a natural swimming pool and fishing water. In the summer months there is a boat and pedal boat rental. There is a seasonal restaurant and a playground on the dam.
