The Talusspalte ( latin talus bipartitus , English talus cleft , split talus or bipartite talus ) is a rare ossification with a present at birth gap formation in the ankle bone ( talus ), not to be confused with the out-of-joint surfaces Os trigonum .

In principle, a gap can run in the sagittal plane or, very rarely, coronal in the frontal plane .

A gap in the talus can occur in Osebold-Remondini syndrome .

If, in the course of growth, a fusion occurs and this gap is filled, this abnormality is to be regarded as a normal variant , but if symptoms occur, the osteochondrosis dissecans of the talar roll is mainly to be differentiated diagnostically.

diagnosis

The change is already visible in the X-ray image and can be represented more precisely by means of magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography .

Differential diagnosis

It is necessary to define an OD focus of the talar roll, which is usually located laterally or medially .

treatment

If there is no healing with merger in the course of growth, operative measures may also be considered.
