Tamara Mikhailovna Smirnova
Tamara Michailowna Smirnova ( Russian Тамара Михайловна Смирнова ; scientific transliteration Tamara Michajlovna Smirnova ; English spelling: Tamara Mikhaylovna Smirnova ; * 1935 in Henitschesk , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ; † 2001 ) was a Soviet Astronomer .
From 1966 to 1988 she worked at the Institute for Theoretical Astronomy in Leningrad . She is co-discoverer of the comet 74P / Smirnova-Chernykh together with Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych . It also discovered more than 100 asteroids . The asteroid (5540) Smirnova is named after her.
