Tamati Williams (born January 19, 1984 in Dunedin ) is a New Zealand football goalkeeper .

Career

From 2003 to 2004 Williams played for the Auckland Football Kingz , who were renamed the New Zealand Knights in 2004. Previously, he had already presented to European clubs and had completed trial training at Blackburn Rovers and Stockport County , but was not considered there. He then took an 18-month break to advance his modeling career, but to no avail. In 2005 he was drafted by Waikato FC and played again in New Zealand to help the bottomed-out table. After the season he moved to University-Mount Wellington before signing a contract with Auckland City FC . With Auckland he played in the OFC Champions League in addition to the national championship . In total, he was in his first year at Auckland in 18 games in goal. During the summer break he moved to Forest Hill Milford United , where he was active until 2012 before returning to Auckland. In the second half of the 2011/2012 season, Williams only played five games this season, including two in the Champions League, which he ultimately won with Auckland City. Williams managed to defend his title with Auckland the following year, not missing a minute of the Champions League. In the championship he reached the final as number one in goal, but conceded four goals there and had to admit defeat to arch-rivals Auckland City. He was also in goal at the FIFA Club World Cup against Sanfrecce Hiroshima .

National team

In 2004 Williams was named for the New Zealand national soccer team as a substitute goalkeeper for qualifying for the 2006 soccer World Cup in Germany , but was not used.
