Tamira Ailala ( Tamiru Ailala ) was a region in central Timor .

history

With the The Hague Convention of October 1, 1904, an agreement was made between the two colonial powers Portugal and the Netherlands on the demarcation of the border on the island of Timor . Portugal was to receive the Dutch enclave of Maucatar in exchange for the Portuguese enclave of Noimuti and the border areas of Tahakay , Tamira Ailala and Lamaknen. The disputed areas in the east of Oe-Cusse Ambeno were awarded to the Dutch. Portugal ratified the treaty until 1909, but then a dispute arose over the drawing of the border on the eastern border of Oe-Cusse Ambeno. Final agreement came but only after a ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague on 25 June 1914. On 17 August 1916, the contract in The Hague was signed, which largely still existing border between the State of East Timor and the Indonesian West Timor firmly put . Today, the area of ​​Tamira Ailala is part of the Indonesian administrative district of Malaka .
