Tan King Gwan

Tan King Gwan (* 1932 ; † 2001 ; later known as Darmawan Saputra ) was an Indonesian badminton player .

Career

Tan King Gwan was a member of the Indonesian Thomas Cup team from 1958 to 1967 , which won this world championship for men's teams three times during this period .

In 1958 he contributed with a win against Johnny Heah and Lim Say Hup to Indonesia's first success in the Thomas Cup , but lost his second game with Njoo Kiem Bie against Eddy Choong and Ooi Teik Hock . In 1961 he lost both doubles to Thailand. Nevertheless, the Indonesian team won 6: 3. In 1964 he lost with AP Unang in the final against Denmark against Finn Kobberø and Jørgen Hammergaard Hansen , but won against Erland Kops and Henning Borch . Three years later he played in the final against Malaysia with AP Unang against Tan Yee Khan and Ng Boon Bee and clearly lost this match in straight sets.

He celebrated his greatest success in the individual disciplines in men's doubles in 1966 with AP Unang at the Asian Games when he won the bronze medal.
