Tangy Loch Castle is the ruin of a fortified dwelling ( island castle ) on a small island in Tangy Loch , about 3.6 km northwest of Calliburn and about 8 km north of Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula in the Scottish administrative unit Argyll and Bute .
In the past, the island was connected to the shore of the lake about 150 meters away by a dam, which is now 1.8–2.4 meters high.
In the 17th century the castle belonged to the MacEacharn clan .
