Tanja Brakensiek

Tanja Brakensiek (born January 25, 1969 in Dortmund ) is a German politician ( CDU ), lawyer and journalist .

Life

Brakensiek, who grew up in the mining district of Dortmund-Eving , studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum after graduating from high school, which she passed in 1988 . After the first state examination in law in 1993, she worked as a research assistant at the TU Dresden until 1995 . She gave up this activity when she was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1995 , to which she was a member until 2005. She then worked as a lawyer for a medium-sized Dortmund company until April 2016 and, in addition to her professional activity, acquired a Masters of Law degree in 2008. She has been working as a journalist since 2013.

Politics and club work

Brakensiek joined the CDU in 1990. From 1993 to 2005 she was a member of the district board of the CDU Dortmund, most recently a member of the executive board. In 1995 she entered the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as the youngest member of the 12th legislative period on the CDU list. In May 2000 she was re-elected to the state parliament. During her time in Parliament she was a. a. Deputy Chairwoman of the Prison Commission. She was also a member of the Legal Committee, the Committee on Internal Administration and Administrative Structural Reform, the Environment and Culture Committee and the Media Committee. In addition, she acted as a deputy member of the then State Media Commission. From 2001 to 2005 she was chairwoman of the CDU women's union in Dortmund. In addition to her political commitment, she is u. a. Deputy Chairwoman of the Association for the Promotion of the Dortmund Children's Opera.
