American Head Charge is an American metal band from Minneapolis , Minnesota . Her songs partly reflect influences from Nu Metal and Industrial Metal .

Band history

Cameron Heacock and Chad Hanks met in a rehabilitation clinic for drug addicts in the late 1990s . They decide to make music together under the pseudonyms Martin Cock and Mr. HC Banks. In 1999 her debut album Trepanation was released by herself. American Recordings became aware of the group and released the album War of Art in 2001 . Label boss Rick Rubin took over the production of the album. Justin Fowler (keyboards), Bryan Ottoson (guitar) and Christopher Emery (drums) added to the line-up. In the same year American Head Charge played on the second stage of the Ozzfest . This was followed by a tour in the opening act for Slipknot . Again and again there were drug excesses within the band, individual members had to visit clinics again and again. Nevertheless, the group managed to release their third album Feeding in February 2005 via Nitrus.

On April 20, 2005, guitarist Bryan Ottoson was found dead from a prescription drug overdose. American Head Charge was on tour with Mudvayne , Life of Agony and Bloodsimple at the time . The band was forced to cancel their tour. The group performed at the Download Festival that same year . Benji Hellberg replaced the deceased band member.

After the release of the compilation Can't Stop the Machine and the subsequent tour, line-up problems became noticeable. The band kept falling apart until they broke up in the summer of 2009.

On July 1, 2011, the band announced their reunion via their official Facebook profile. This was followed by the first EP in the band's history, Shoot , in 2013 and the fourth studio album Tango Umbrella in 2016 .

Music genre

American Head Charge play a mix of Industrial Metal , Alternative Metal and Nu Metal . While the War of Art was still relatively tough, the group on The Feeding was much more catchy and straightforward.
