Tannenhof (Gampelen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tannenhof in Gampelen in Switzerland is a home and reintegration facility that accommodates women and men with various types of psychological and social problems. Up to 87 people live and work in the facility.

history

In the years 1885 to 1889, the Bernese Protection Supervision Association for released prisoners considered how best to look after released convicts who had no job. A committee was set up for this purpose. This came to the conclusion to build a home for these men as a stopover. Thus the Tannenhof was set up in 1889 as a workers' home for socially uprooted people. With Le Vallon he had an offshoot in Lignières . This former offshoot has been a holiday home since 2001.

The sponsoring association of the Tannenhof workers' home was founded in 1889. After the agricultural property had been purchased and a home manager had been employed, the first released prisoners and unemployed were accepted. Initially, the future of the Tannenhof was not guaranteed; times were turbulent. Only later did the facility establish itself. However, it always had to adapt to changing needs. In 1986 the association was transformed into the Tannenhof Foundation . Significant new buildings and conversions were carried out between 1995 and 1999.
