The Lords of Tannroda , also Tannrode , Rode, since the end of the 12th century. Tannenrode, noble gentlemen in Thuringia , were a wealthy, noble family with the same ancestral seat at Tannroda Castle on the Ilm.

history

The family first appears in 1190 with Manegoldus etiam de Rode and since 1194 with Manegoldus de Tannenrode . The nobles von Tannenrode were closely related to the Pforta monastery , where they had their family crypt in the Evangelist's chapel. They owned goods in Vippach, Sulza , Möllern, Pomnitz, Hassenhausen , Rehehausen , Rossbach, Goldschau, Groß- and Klein-Döben.

In 1231 the brothers Conrad and Friedrich von Tannrode and in 1295/99 Conradus et Eckenbertus fratres de Tanrode are mentioned. In 1331, by papal decree, Konrad von Tannroda, son of the late Heinrich, called Furet von Tannroda, was introduced into the canonicals of the St. Justi and St. Clementis Monastery in Bibra . Castle and town of Tannroda became a Wettin fief in 1382. In 1383 the Lords of Tannroda recognized the feudal sovereignty of the Landgrave of Thuringia. In 1392 the castle passed to the noble lords of Querfurt, apparently related, and in 1418 to the Vitzthum family . They had widely scattered property, for example in Gleina near Zeitz and Droy says in the 14th and 15th centuries . The lineage of the Lords of Tannroda expired in 1433 with the death of Conrad in the male line.
