history

On May 20, 1170 Droyssig was first mentioned in a document. In 1214 the Holy Grave Provosty Droyssig was founded , a branch of the Canons of the Holy Sepulcher (and not , as wrongly assumed, the Knights Templar ) through the donation of Albrecht von Turts , who was nicknamed Droyssig from 1190. The provostry Droyssig also had religious courts in Utenbach west of the Saale, Deumen and Sautzschen. In addition, the canons ran a hospital in Grimma. In 1495 the Droyßiger Propstei was taken over by the Order of St. John . The Counts of Orlamünde had their seat in Droyanzig from 1344 until their extinction in 1413. From 1413 to 1622 the Lords of Bünau owned Droyßig as a landgrave's fief, then that of Hoym . In 1622 the castle was demolished and converted into a palace under Christian Julius von Hoym. Droyssig remained in the Hoymschen possession until it was extinguished in 1769 and then passed into the possession of the princes of Schönburg-Waldenburg until 1945 .

In 1562 Droyzut was hit by a witch hunt. An old woman got into a witch trial and was whacked. Before the execution, she was pinched with red-hot tongs.

Until 1989 the central institute of the pioneer organization Ernst Thälmann (ZIPO) was in Droyßig.

On January 1, 2010 Weißenborn was incorporated together with its districts Stolzenhain and Romsdorf.

politics

After the 2014 local elections, the local council has 14 members, 5 women and 9 men.

Until February 2008, Ria Theil (former member of the state parliament) was mayor of Droyßig for many years. Uwe Luksch has been mayor of Droyzut since February 2008. In September 2016, the non-party Evelyn Billing was elected as the new mayor.

coat of arms

The continuation of the coat of arms was approved by the district on February 1, 2010.

Blazon : "Split from green and silver, in front a black grooved silver gate tower with a pointed arched gate opening and a slender crenellated tower with three pointed arched window openings, in the back an upright, silver-contoured black bear with black claws, silver teeth and a red knocked-out tongue."

In 1998, the then community of the same name commissioned the Droyßig artist Regina Tomschin to design a coat of arms for the place. This emblem was approved by the Halle regional council in the same year. The newly formed municipality Droyziger on January 1, 2010 decided to continue the coat of arms of the former municipality of Droy says.

The colors of the church are green - white.

flag

The flag is green - white - green (1: 2: 1) striped (longitudinal shape: stripes running vertically, transverse shape: stripes running horizontally) with the coat of arms of the municipality of Droyßig on the wider white median.

Culture and sights

lock

Castle Droyssig

Droyziger Castle , built in the 17th century, stands on the foundation walls of a low-rise castle with a double wall ring that was built at the beginning of the 13th century. Today's imposing residential palace has a bear enclosure as a special feature . The castle church, built in 1622 in the Mannerist style, is a three-story building and is considered a masterpiece of the late Renaissance. The castle was adapted to contemporary tastes several times through baroque and classicist renovations and additions. Today there is a castle and local history museum in the castle as well as the workrooms of the local history association Droyßig e. V. The community library is also housed here. There are also a few rental apartments in the palace complex.

Churches

  • Romanesque church from the second half of the 12th century in Hassel
  • Church of St. Bartholomew in Droyßig; The beginnings go back to the early 13th century, expanded several times

school

The high school of the CJD emerged from the Droyßiger Anstalten opened in 1852, which Prince Otto Victor von Schönburg-Waldenburg donated for the purpose of training Protestant women to be elementary school teachers, teachers for secondary schools and governesses. In 1991 the CJD became the sponsor of the school. In 2013 the grammar school branch was expanded to include secondary schools.

Monuments

A memorial stone in the palace gardens ( Ernst-Thälmann-Park during the GDR era ) commemorates the victims of fascism . The Thälmann bust located there was removed after 1989.

Regular events

The castle festival is always at the beginning of June and a. organized with a medieval market. It is associated with the presentation of historical costumes. The annual Christmas market, which is held around the historic castle for only one day in December, is also well known in the surrounding communities. Another event of supraregional awareness is the foundation festival of the Christophorusgymnasium every year in May, which reminds of the establishment of the Droyßiger Anstalten and above all attracts families of students.

traffic

The Zeitz – Camburg railway line was discontinued and shut down in 2000. For political reasons, neighboring municipalities such as Droyßig have spoken out in favor of bus transport (in the entire region, bus (parallel) traffic and discontinued rail routes are the order of the day), the (very low and often overloaded) bus traffic is for citizens, business and traffic view is no longer so sustainable, an association should be founded to promote the railway line. In recent years, a cycle path has been built on the former railway line, which to date extends from Osterfeld, Weickelsdorf, Romsdorf, Droyßig, Kretzschau to Zeitz and is part of the Saale-Elster-Rad-Acht. The cycle path has been usable since 2013 and completes the previous cycling offer.

To the federal highway 180 , which connects Zeitz and Naumburg (Saale) , it is four kilometers in a northerly direction. The motorway exit / exit to the A 9 is about six kilometers from Droyßig.
