Tanush I. (Dukagjini)

Tanush I. (Dukagjini) is considered to be the ancestor of the Dukagjini family .

Life

1281 an Albanian leader "was first written ducem Qinium Tanuschum ", " dux Ginius Tanuschus " (in the Byzantine Rank Name " Dukas Ginos ") or " Ducam Ginum Tanuschum Albanensem " Tanush I as political prisoners and opponents of the Angevin rule in Regnum Albaniae mentioned.

According to the chronicle of Gjin III. Muzaka had Tanush murder the bishop, who had viewed his wife in a dishonorable way, in the Church of Saint Mary of Ndërfan ( Mirdita ). As a result, Tanush and his family were killed by the family members of the bishop. The little son Gjin, who had gone into hiding and grew up with a Stefan Progano in the village of Kallmet in the municipality of Lezha, survived . When the boy was old enough, the aforementioned Stefan gave him his daughter to be his wife. Gjin got his father's possessions back and took his name "Ducagjini".
