The Tanzania Ports Authority (German for example: "Tanzanian Port Authority") abbreviated TPA, is an authority in Tanzania , which is subordinate to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development ( Ministry of Infrastructure Development ) and is authorized to manage and operate the state sea and inland ports of the country. It was enacted on April 15, 2005 under the Ports Act No. 17 of 2004 and its administrative headquarters are in Dar es Salaam .

The large seaports operated by it are located (from north to south) in Tanga , Dar es Salaam and Mtwara . Furthermore, the smaller seaports of Bagamoyo , Kilwa , Lindi , Mafia and Pangani also fall within the remit of TPA.

Furthermore, her area of ​​responsibility includes all inland ports on Lake Malawi , Lake Tanganyika and Lake Victoria , whereby she has an important function for the western part of Tanzania as well as for neighboring countries, almost all of them landlocked states, Burundi , Democratic Republic of the Congo , Malawi , Rwanda , Zambia and Uganda .
