Dance week

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tanzwoche is a dance festival in Dresden that was founded in 1991 by DG Julius Skowronek as the International Dance Week Dresden and has been artistically and organizationally headed by him since then.

Since 1994 the dance week has been run by the “Tanzbühne e. V. "worn. Since dance theater is per se international from the perspective of the organizers, the original title was shortened to the label Tanzwoche . The festival, which takes place annually in April, gave impetus to network and international co-production projects. It presents current developments in the fields of contemporary dance , dance theater and performance (art) and offers artistic exchange in workshops and discussions. With over 30 events each in venues such as the project theater, the Scheune cultural center, the Hellerau festival hall , the Young Generation Theater , the Dresden State Theater , the Saxon State Opera Dresden and unusual locations, it reaches over 3000 visitors and participants every year. Under the artistic direction of Julius Skowronek, the Dresden Dance Week has developed into the most important festival and showcase for Saxon dance art and an interface between young artists, the avant-garde and established high culture . In addition to guest performances by ensembles of international standing, the "Dance Week" has achieved national importance through co-productions with Heike Hennig's ensemble . This is how Zeit - dance has been filmed since 1927 by the New Zealand director Trevor Peters as Tanz mit der Zeit for ZDF / Arte and brought to German cinemas in 2008 by Ventura-Film. With the regularly held gala, the dance week offers an overview of the dance state Saxony.

The International Dance Week Dresden is funded by the City of Dresden and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and takes place with the support of numerous other facilities, institutes, foundations and others. It is organized in cooperation with the Palucca School Dresden, the German Stage Association and the Czech Center Dresden .
