In February 2005 the Leipzig choreographer Heike Hennig went in search of former dancers from the Leipzig Opera . Careers in classical ballet end early. In their mid-thirties, most dancers have to look for another profession. After intensive research in the Leipzig Dance Archive, Heike Hennig contacted several former professionals. They tell from their lives and dance their life stories influenced by choreographers such as Mary Wigman , Dore Hoyer , Tatjana Gsovsky and Gret Palucca , whom the film traces off the stage and with archive material. The film was produced by Ma.Ja.De Filmproduktion in coproduction with ZDF and in collaboration with ARTE and presented at international film festivals under the title Dancing with Time . Ventura Filmverleih released it in German cinemas in 2008 and on DVD in 2009. At the Leipzig Book Fair , the book of the same name on the film was presented by the author Marion Appelt with numerous photographs by Friedrich U. Minkus.
