Christa Franze

Christa Franze (born December 24, 1927 in Zittau ; † November 7, 2009 in Leipzig ) was a German dancer .

Vita

Christa Franze experienced her childhood in Zittau and was enthusiastic about ballet performances in the city theater. She took ballet lessons there and passed the aptitude test in Dresden at the age of 14. Christa Franze began her training as a stage dancer under the ballet director Walter Kreideweiß at the Dresden Opera . She worked as a stage dancer with solo engagement at the Stadttheater Zittau and from 1949 to 1958 at the Leipzig Opera .

Following her stage career, Christa Franze began training as a bookseller in Leipzig. She took recitation lessons from Ruth Kommerell in Berlin and organized chamber dance evenings at the Leipzig play community, of which she was a member for 12 years. Christa Franze shared her worldview, which was shaped by spirituality , in poems and the fragmented thoughts that were regularly sent to interested parties .

In 2005 Christa Franze took part in a dance project and experienced her stage comeback at the Leipzig Opera with the opera and dance ensemble Heike Hennig & Co. Under the direction of the Leipzig choreographer Heike Hennig and Friedrich U. Minkus, Christa Franze and her former dancer colleagues Ursula Cain , Siegfried Prölß and Horst Dittmann developed the autobiographical dance theater Zeit - Tanz since 1927 in which their life story is told and danced. The dance theater of the generations by Heike Hennig has celebrated extraordinary successes since then. The dance theater was filmed under the title Tanz mit der Zeit by Trevor Peters for ZDF and ARTE , and came in 2007/8 with reports in the Tagesthemen and in German cinemas. Under the title of the same name, the book on the dance theater of the generations by the author Marion Appelt was published in 2008 with a foreword by Renate Schmidt and numerous dance photos by Siegfried Prölß and Friedrich U. Minkus.

Until November 2008, Christa Franze danced in Heike Hennig's dance theater piece ZeitSprünge , in which the older protagonists and the younger dancers from Heike Hennig & Co engage in an exchange of energies, ideas and experiences. The dance theater of the generations can be experienced as a cinema film and stage play at international festivals; so it was seen with the support of the Ballet British Columbia at the North America premiere as Dancing with Time 2008 in Vancouver . On December 12, 2009, the film was first broadcast on European television under the French title Danse avec le temps .

After a short illness, Christa Franze died on November 7th, 2009 in Leipzig.
