life and work

Tara Donovan first studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the Corcoran College of Art, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts . 1999 received a Master of Fine Arts degree after graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University , Richmond, VA .

Tara Donovan uses inconspicuous everyday material such as straws, toothpicks, needles, nails and buttons for her sculptures, which often seem biomorphic and for her large -scale installations. From just one of these raw materials, she creates crystalline, delicate, monochrome structures that appear to have grown organically. Tara Donovan has received many awards in the USA, and in 2008 she received the prestigious MacArthur Prize .

In Europe, Tara Donovan's first solo exhibition took place in 2013, which was shown successively at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark and at the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck , Remagen.
