Taras Bohdanowytsch Prochasko ( Ukrainian Тарас Богданович Прохасько , scientific transliteration Taras Bohdanovyč Prochasʹko ; born May 16, 1968 in Ivano-Frankivsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian journalist and writer .

Life

Taras Prochasko was born in Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine , the former Stanislau in East Galicia , and is the older brother of the translator and essayist Jurko Prochasko . He studied biology at the University of Lviv . From 1989 to 1991 he was active in the student and democracy movement that originated in Lviv. After completing his studies, he returned to his hometown in 1992 and worked at the Institute of Carpathian Forestry Operations. This was followed by activities as a teacher, bartender, security guard, radio presenter at the Wezha broadcaster , in a gallery and in a television studio. Taras Prochasko belongs to the group of authors and employees of the magazine Tschetwer published by Jurko Izdryk in Ivano-Frankivsk . Journal for Texts and Visions ( Thursday ) and was co-editor of the journal from 1992 to 1994. In 1997 he worked as an editor at the Kiev publishing house Smoloskyp . His contributions appeared a. a. in the Lviv newspapers Express and Postup , in the Internet magazine Zbruč and in the magazine Tschetwer in Ivano-Frankivsk. Prochasko is a member of the Ukrainian Writers' Association and was a scholarship holder at the Berlin Literary Colloquium . Taras Prochasko lives and works in Ivano-Frankivsk.
