Tarbert ( Scottish Gaelic Tairbeart na Hearadh , " isthmus of Harris") is the main parish on Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland . There is also a car ferry terminal to Uig on Skye .
1990 RAF aircraft accident
On April 30, 1990, a Royal Air Force Avro Shackleton (WR965) flew from RAF Lossiemouth and Benbecula Airport and crashed near the village, killing all passengers and crew.
