Tarek Swelim

Tarek Swelim ( Arabic طارق ﺳﻮﻳﻠﻢ Tārek Swēlim ) is an Egyptian art historian and photographer . He is the son of the archaeologist Nabil Swelim .

life and work

In 1979 Tarek first studied tour guidance and Egyptology at the Helwan University . In 1986 he began studying Islamic art and architecture at the American University in Cairo . He received his PhD in Islamic Art and Architecture from Harvard University in 1994.

In 1985/86 he supported his father in researching the Lepsius I pyramid , primarily through his photography. He earns his living mainly as a travel guide in Jordan , Lebanon , Yemen , Oman , Arab Gulf States and Libya .
