The VI. Targa Abruzzi was a sports car race and took place on August 13, 1933.

The race

In the 1920s and 1930s, established in Italy, some sports car racing on public roads, similar to 1906 by Vincenzo Florio launched Targa Florio . One of these events was the Targa Abruzzi . This race was driven on the Circuito di Pescara , where the Coppa Acerbo has also been held since 1924 . The first Targa Abruzzi took place in 1925 and ended with the victory of Pio Avati on an Isotta Fraschini . In 1925 the distance was 382.5 km and Avati needed a driving time of 4: 35: 20,000 hours for the 15 laps. At the sixth edition of the race in 1933, the winner Carlo Felice Trossi only had to drive six laps to be flagged as the winner. He reached an average speed of 130.987 km / h; almost 50 km / h faster than Avati in 1925.
