Tarmo Teder (born April 18, 1958 in Kuressaare ) is an Estonian writer , literary and film critic.

life and work

Tarmo Teder worked in Tartu and Tallinn as an unskilled worker, stoker and loader. He studied at the Tallinn Polytechnic from 1973 to 1976. From 1976 to 1978 he attended evening school in Kingissepa (today Kuressaare) on the island of Saaremaa .

After Estonian regained independence, Teder worked as a cultural journalist and writer. In 1994/95 Teder was the cultural editor of the Estonian newspaper Rahva Hääl . From 1995 to 1998 he worked for Eesti Päevaleht and since 1998 for the cultural newspaper Sirp . He has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 1996 .

Teder received the renowned Friedebert Tuglas Prize for his short story Viimase idealisti pildid (2004) .
