Taruntius and side crater ( LROC -WAC)

Taruntius is an impact crater on the front of the moon , between Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Fecunditatis , southeast of Da Vinci and northeast of Secchi . The rim of the crater is irregular and eroded, the interior has concentric structures and grooves , the Rimae Taruntius .

To the south of the crater, the ridges of the Dorsa Cato and Dorsum Cushman run in a radial direction away from the crater, and the Catena Taruntius to the south-east .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman astrologer Lucius Tarrutius .
