description

Today's monument is located in the courtyard of the former Dobra upper mill, one of two watermills that were once located in the village and were mentioned in a document in 1505. The Obermühle itself was mentioned as such for the first time in 1781. Ten years later, this mill, like the Dobra lower mill located a little below, is referred to as two-speed. It was last used as a sawmill until shortly before the Second World War .

The pigeon house of the mill, which has a massive substructure, dates from the 18th century . It is one of the few pigeon houses preserved in the region, which in the past existed in large numbers in rural areas and were mostly centrally located on the farms. In order to preserve for posterity at least a small part of these rural useful buildings, the lower part of which could be used as a dog house or toilet , the small building was finally placed under monument protection. At the beginning of the 1980s, as criticized by Georg A. Kuhlins, a resident of Dobra and then head of the Bad Liebenwerda district museum at the time , in a pitiful condition, the monument is now presented as a renovated sight of the village.
