The pigeon cliff in the Harz is a rock formation near Ilsenburg in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Geographical location

The Taubenklippe is located in the northern part of the Hochharz in the Harz National Park . It is located about halfway between Ilsenburg and Bad Harzburg , which is adjacent to the west in Lower Saxony, on the eastern slope of the Ecker valley at 560.3  m above sea level. NN . It forms the northwest spur of the Frankenberg (approx.  570  m above sea level ).

Opportunities for viewing and hiking

From the Taubenklippe there is a view of the Harz foreland and the Brocken ; In addition, the view falls on the mountain ranges near Bad Harzburg with the Rabenklippe (including the Rabenklippe forest inn there ) on the opposite side of the Ecker valley. The cliff can be reached by hiking through the Eckertal or on a 6 km long hiking trail that begins in Ilsenburg. The cliff is included as no. 4 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin; the stamping point is next to a refuge on the cliff .
