The pigeon tower (French colombier or pigeonnier ) of the Manoir de Ponsay ( mansion ) in Chantonnay , a French commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region , was built in 1591. The round tower made of quarry stone masonry has nests inside in 1963. There was a rotatable ladder there that could be used to clean the nests and remove pigeon eggs.
