Political commitment

Markéta Gregorová joined the Czech Pirate Party before 2013. After joining, she headed the department for external relations from 2013 to 2015 and headed it again from 2017 to 2019.

The party nominated her for the 2014 European elections . However, the party only won 4.78 percent and thus did not exceed the necessary threshold of five percent. In the 2016 elections for the South Moravian regional association - on a list of Greens and Pirates - she was unable to win a mandate. Ebneso won no mandate in the 2017 elections to the Czech House of Representatives , in which her party won 22 seats. In the local elections in 2018, she ran for the city council of Brno. Gregorová was elected, but renounced the office of City Councilor for Culture because she rejected the local coalition of ODS , KDU-ČSL , ČSSD and pirates.

In January 2019, the Czech pirates nominated Gregorová for second place on the electoral list for the 2019 European elections . In the election, the Pirate Party was able to win significantly more votes than in 2014: With 13.95 percent of the vote, the party won three of the 21 Czech mandates. Together with top candidate Marcel Kolaja and Mikuláš Peksa , Gregorová joined the Greens / EFA group after lengthy negotiations . Also up for discussion was joining the ALDE parliamentary group (now Renew Europe ), although the pirates refused to be in a parliamentary group with the Czech ruling party ANO . Gregorová is a member of the Committee on International Trade and an alternate member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense .
