Taughannock Falls State Park
In Taughannock Falls State Park , waterfalls, Taughannock Falls , are the main attraction. The park is located in Tompkins County in the Finger Lakes Region in central New York , between Trumansburg ( Ulysses Township ) and Ithaca . Taughannock Falls are the tallest free-falling waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains with a drop of 66 m (215 ft) . The Taughannock Falls are about 8 m higher than the Niagara Falls . The falls lie at the end of Taughannock Falls Gorge, which rises up to 85 m (300 ft) vertically.

Attractions
- Taughannock is a year-round usable, touristic area. The falls and gorge form a natural amphitheater filled with the spray from the falls. There are many hiking trails around the gorge, some of which lead to the lower end and partly to the upper end of the gorge.
- A little further from the falls, you can swim in the Taughannock Creek and Cayuga Lake.
