Tauno Kangro (born May 25, 1966 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is one of the most outstanding contemporary sculptors in Estonia .

Tauno Kangro discovered his passion for art early on. From 1976 to 1984 he visited the sculpture studio of the artist Kalju Reitel in Tallinn. He then studied sculpture at the Estonian Art Academy from 1986 to 1993 . From 1992 to 1999 he was employed as an art teacher in Tallinn.

Since 1993 Tauno Kangro has been one of the most important freelance sculptors in Estonia. Numerous exhibitions in Estonia and other European countries, including Germany, have made him known. He is also active in the field of pastel painting .

Tauno Kangro is best known for its monumental sculptures. He often deals with Estonian topics. He created the mischievous monument to the mythological giant Suur Tõll and his wife Piret on the island of Saaremaa (2002), the bronze sculpture Linna hung ("The Spirit of the City") on Kiel Town Hall Square (2002) and the Teletorni monument ( Granite and bronze ) on the Tallinn TV tower in the Pirita district (2005).
