Taylorsville is a city in Spencer County , Kentucky . The city is the county seat and has a population of approximately 1009 people.
history
Taylorsville was founded on his own land in 1799 by Richard Taylor. The place was soon named after its founder Taylor, but before that the city was called Bellview, but officially it was named Taylorsville. In 1814 Taylorsville was incorporated into Spencer County. The city's convenient location on the Ohio River quickly made Taylorsville the economic focus of the county.

According to the United States Census 2000 , there were 427 households and 234 families in Taylorsville. The population density was 1,383.4 people per square mile. The population is made up of 90 percent white residents, 7.83 percent residents of African American origin and 3.78 percent residents of other origins.
