Tchip

A Tchip is a sucking, phonetic sound that is formed by running the tongue over the teeth from the inside while at the same time moving the lips in the other direction. This is why the English name for it to suck your teeth ( dt. Sucking on his teeth ). This expression is particularly widespread among the black African population or among people of corresponding descent (e.g. in the Caribbean and among African Americans ). In part, it is also adopted by other population groups. This expression is used to reprimand or to express anger , but also when respect is to be shown.
