The band Team Sleep can be seen as a side project of Chino Moreno , the lead singer of the band Deftones . Also playing: Todd Wolkinson (guitar), Zach Hill (drums), Rick Verrett (bass) and DJ Crook (turntables), who had already worked on the song Lucky You on the self-titled Deftones album, which was released in 2003. The late release date for their debut album was set for May 9th, 2005 after their record company Maverick decided to start some promotions for the album.
An album had already been recorded two years earlier, but it was never released. It is believed that it was because it was offered on the Internet well before the official release date. Some guests such as Mike Patton , Melissa Auf der Maur and various Deftones members also took part.
The debut, released in 2005, had no other guest musicians besides the rather unknown guest singers Mary Timony and Rob Crow. Briefly described, the music moves in the electronic field. The vocal parts are contributed by Chino Moreno. In summary, her songs can be described as soulful, calm and alternative in an electronic context, with guitar riffs played in several songs .
