Tecklenborg, Kegel GmbH is a medium-sized company with headquarters in Bremerhaven and a branch in Wismar .

history

The company was founded in 1927 by Fritz Tecklenborg and Captain Karl Kegel as a trading company for wire ropes and as a ship brokerage. The core of the employees were specialists from the former rigging department of the Tecklenborg shipyard , which had recently ceased operations.

In the early years, the company was based on the Geeste in Wesermünde . The headquarters have been in Bremerhaven's fishing port since 1951 , where the company moved into a new building. Tecklenborg, Kegel was one of the leading specialist companies for mechanical splicing from 1950 onwards . Large quantities of sling ropes , which are created by assembling wire ropes using aluminum ferrules , were produced and sold. The demand for these products in the customer base of shipyards, fisheries , port and construction companies increased continuously. Due to the increasing international importance of ferrules, the sister company Sahm-Seilklemmen GmbH was founded in 1961, also with the participation of Fritz Tecklenborg , which still produces wire rope processing products and sells them worldwide.

Company profile and business areas

In addition to trading in wire ropes and cordage, traditional rigging was the main business in the early years. The craft of rigging sailing ships is still used today. Among other things, the training ship Germany (1995), the four-masted sailing ship Passat (1997) and the sailing training ship Gorch Fock (1999) from Tecklenborg, Kegel were provided with new rigging .

Tecklenborg, Kegel is also active as a pan-European wholesaler and manufacturer of stainless steel wires.

In 1992 a branch was opened in Wismar. A large number of material tests and nautical services are offered both at the headquarters in Bremerhaven and in Wismar.
