Ted Marshall

Edward "Ted" Marshall (born before 1945) is a production designer and art director .

Life

Marshall began his career on the film staff in 1945 as an uncredited technical draftsman art director for the war film The Way to the Stars by Anthony Asquith . After further films in this function, he first worked his way up to the art director assistant. His first credit , he was the art director for the 1957 Hammer - Horror Curse of Frankenstein .

In 1964 , Marshall was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design for Tony Richardson's adventure film Tom Jones - Between Bed and Gallows together with Ralph W. Brinton , Jocelyn Herbert and Josie MacAvin , but the award went to the literary film The Ship of Fools that year . In 1966 , he received his second Oscar nomination for Martin Ritt's agent film The Spy Who Came Out of the Cold . Together with Hal Pereira , Tambi Larsen and Josie MacAvin, they lost out to the monumental film Cleopatra . Marshall was also nominated three times for the BAFTA Film Award between 1965 and 1969 ; 1965 for bedroom dispute , 1966 for Ein Platz above and 1969 for The attack of the light brigade . He never won this award either.

Marshall has rarely worked for television, including on five episodes of the series Guest at Errol Flynn . His last engagement was the 1978 television film The Thief of Baghdad by Clive Donner .
