Ted Wilde
Ted Wilde (born December 16, 1889 in New York City , † December 17, 1929 in Hollywood , California ) was an American director and screenwriter .
Life
Wilde was a close friend of the silent film star Harold Lloyd , for whom he wrote several scripts and numerous film sketches from the mid-1920s . In 1927 and 1928, Wilde directed two films in which Lloyd played the leading role: The Little Brother from 1927 and Speedy from 1928. For the latter, he received an Oscar nomination for best director. His beginning, promising career as a director ended abruptly when he died of a stroke in 1929, the day after his 40th birthday . His grave is in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
