Segment car (own spelling teilAuto ) is a car sharing -Anbieter the Mobility Center GmbH with stations in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. TeilAuto was founded in 1992 in Halle (Saale) as an ecologically oriented association.

Vehicles and booking

TeilAuto offers vehicles in the classes minis, small, delivery vans, compacts, high-roof station wagons, medium-sized vehicles, vans and buses. Bookings can be made around the clock via the Internet, by phone or via the app. Using a customer card, the car sharing vehicles are opened at the start of the journey and locked again after use.

Environmental commitment

The company relies on an emission-saving fleet. In 2010 it became the first German car sharing company to join the European “Cleaner Car Contract” (CCC) initiative, and in 2011 it received the Blue Angel eco- label for its services . TeilAuto is also a member of the Saxony Environmental Alliance and the Thuringia Sustainability Agreement .

In 1992, drivers who wanted to use a Škoda Favorit came together in Halle and founded the teilAuto Halle (Saale) eV. In 1993, the association had the first vehicle available and initially organized the reservations via an answering machine and the keys were deposited in a tubular safe. The association grew and expanded in 2000 to Leipzig and Erfurt.

In 2002 a cooperation agreement was made with DB Rent GmbH. The Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB Rent then expanded the existing teilAuto switchboard into a car sharing service center, which today not only accepts booking inquiries for teilAuto and Flinkster (at the time DB Carsharing ), but also for various other car sharing providers throughout Germany.

In 2004, business operations were transferred from the teilAuto-Verein to the Mobility Center GmbH, which was founded specifically for this purpose. It continues the car sharing service under the “teilAuto” brand.

In the years that followed, teilAuto concentrated on expanding locations in central Germany. So were u. a. Car sharing offers installed in Dresden (2006), Jena (2009), Magdeburg (2011) and Gotha (2015).

Since 2018 there has been a "free floating" offer in Leipzig, which is marketed as a "city flitzer".
