Tekke from Martanesh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tekke of Martanesh ( Albanian  also  Teqeja e Martaneshit , ish-teqeja e poshtme or Teqeeja e Peshkut ) is a historical dervish - Tekke of the Bektashite Muslims in Albania , which is located in the village of Peshk south of Krasta in the Martanesh region of the Bulqiza municipality . It was built in 1870 and survived the communist dictatorship after Albania was proclaimed the world's first atheist state in 1967. The Tekke belongs to the Sufi grandfatherhood Fushë-Kruja and is now a so-called “cultural monument” of the Republic of Albania. The order of the monastery, the Dergâh , was founded in 1898 by Hüseyin Baba. After Hüseyin Baba, the Tekke was headed by Yaşar Baba, Haydar Baba, Câfer Baba, Baba Lütfü Cani and most recently by Baba Faja Martaneshi . The building is said to have been erected in the late Middle Ages.

In this tekke, the Albanian national hero Mustafa Xhani , who became famous as Baba Faja Martaneshi , became the religious leader ( Baba ) who worked there and organized the resistance against the fascist Italians and National Socialist Germans in World War II .
