The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ( TASE , Hebrew בּוּרְסָה לִנְיָרוֹת עֵרֶךְ בְּתֵל־אָבִיב Būrsah li-Njarōt ʿErech bə-Tel Avīv , German for 'stock exchange for securities' ) is Israel's only stock exchange in Tel Aviv-Jaffa . It is organized in the form of a Private Company Limited by Guarantee , in which twelve Israeli, three foreign banks ( Barclays , Citibank , HSBC ) and 13 brokers (including three international investment houses ) are involved. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is a member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) and an observing member of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE).

history

The Bursah in Tel Aviv arose from the state- illegitimate Exchange Bureau for Securities , which was founded in 1935 by the Anglo-Palestine Bank together with other banks and brokers. Five years after the founding of the state of Israel, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was founded in 1953. In 1968 the Knesset passed the Security Law , which resulted in the establishment of the Israel Security Authority . The Israel Security Authority created a set of rules for the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange's business operations.

In 2014 the exchange moved to its current headquarters in Rechov Achusat Bajit  2 (רְחוֹב אֲחֻזַּת בַּיִת), before that, since 1983, the Bursah sat 450 meters further east in Rechov Echad Haʿam  54 (רְחוֹב אֶחָד הָעַם), both in Tel Aviv ha-Qṭanah (תֵּל־אָבִיב הַקְטָנָה; to district 5).

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange received worldwide attention in 1993 with the third most initial public offering . In addition, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was ranked 40th on the global stock market.

In 1999 the conversion to electronic trading was completed.

In January 2007, Esther Levanon became President of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. In 2007, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange signed an agreement with the London Stock Exchange (LSE) on stock prices of companies listed on the TASE and the LSE. In November 2007, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange signed an agreement with NASDAQ on the double listing of companies. In February 2010, the Toronto Stock Exchange also signed a corresponding agreement on the double listing of companies.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was partially paralyzed by hacker attacks in January 2012 .

Around 600 companies are traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, over 50 of which are also traded on other stock exchanges. There are also numerous bonds from companies and the State of Israel as well as Exchange Traded Notes (ETN). In 2011, the daily trading volume was $ 482 million in stocks, $ 1.1 billion in bonds and $ 109 million in ETNs.

The highest level of tradable company shares was reached in 2000 with 665 shares. In previous years the range ranged from 558 (1993) to 662 (1998). In the following years between 577 (2003) and 654 (2007) companies were listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

With 62 newly listed companies in 2007, the previous record of 2006 was surpassed with 44 new companies. The values ​​between 1998 and 2005 were between 4 (2003) and 37 (2000). In the years 2008 to 2011 these values ​​were between two (2008) and 22 (2010).

Trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is limited to Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
