Telephone code (Democratic Republic of the Congo)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Area code codes
Telephone code : 243
International dialing code : 00

The telephone prefixes in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are organized and assigned by the Congolese Post and Telephone Office ( OCPT ).

Dialing a Congolese phone number from abroad is done as follows:

International area code + 243 ( country code ) + area code (without leading 0) + telephone number .

Dialing within the country can always be made as follows: area code + telephone number .

In the fixed network, a number in the same area code can be dialed without the area code.

Area codes

There are around 10,000 landlines across the country. The area code was two digits, followed by a six-digit phone number. The fixed network of the OCPT has largely or completely collapsed. In the province of Kinshasa only fixed network connections from Standard Telecom, a joint venture between the Congolese Post Office OCPT (40%) and the South Korean company Aihan Global Holding (60%) work. These connections have seven-digit numbers starting with 5.
