Occurrence

Teleiopsis albifemorella is widespread in the southern and northern areas of the Alps . A find from the French Pyrenees is doubted. Other deposits can be found in the Spanish Pyrenees and in the Abruzzo mountains in Italy, as well as in the area of the former state union of Serbia and Montenegro . The species is found at altitudes of 370 to about 2300 meters.

Way of life

The larvae live between the roots of the shield amphibian ( Rumex scutatus ). The larva overwinters and is ready to pupate between May and June. Depending on the snow cover, individual specimens are not found until August. The larvae pupate in a silk web between the roots. Teleiopsis albifemorella is bound to calcareous soils and occurs on rubble and scree slopes. The species is not represented in the central Alps with silicate soils.

Flight and caterpillar times

The larvae live from May to August. The moths fly from July to September, preferably in the late afternoon.
