Raimund Probst

Raimund Probst (* 1927 ; † November 19, 2009 ) was a German architect . He was considered the nestor of building damage research in German-speaking countries.

Life

From 1950 Raimund Probst studied architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe , among others with Egon Eiermann . After graduating with a degree in engineering , he dealt intensively with building chemistry , building physics and building law . In 1963 he was the first building expert to be publicly appointed and sworn in by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Frankfurt am Main as an expert for construction defects and structural damage and thus received the first certificate of appointment .

In 1965 he was the first lecturer in the field of “Analysis of structural damage”, initially at the Technical University of Karlsruhe, later at the Technical University of Hanover . In 1972 he was the initiator of the Building Damage Forum in Rottach-Egern and worked there as a speaker until 2005.

Raimund Probst has published numerous essays and articles on structural damage. His book "Probsts Baupathologie" is considered a standard work.
