Company history

In the telecommunications market, the company grew very quickly and opened branches in Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, Latvia, Japan, Israel, Malaysia and the Netherlands. There were also spectacular company acquisitions such as

  • CyberSolutions, Munich, in autumn 1998 for 5 million euros.
  • Telecrypt, Cologne
  • Billing Components, Munich for 8.6 million euros.
  • SBK Software & Systems GmbH, Kassel, at the beginning of 2001 for 3 million euros.
  • Kingston SCL, Edinburgh, at the end of 1999 for 420 million euros.

as well as the majority stake in nexnet GmbH in Berlin.

Based on the turnover of 28.4 million euros achieved in the first quarter of 2001, a turnover forecast of 179 million euros was published for 2001.

The number of employees had risen to over 1,400 worldwide.

After the IPO (securities identification number 529970) on March 20, 2000, which brought proceeds of 219 million euros (for approx. 28% of the share capital) on the Neuer Markt, the market value climbed to 1.6 billion euros and then fell quickly. Overly optimistic sales expectations and high depreciation on acquired goodwill led to losses that were not sufficiently offset by a series of closings. This eventually led to the opening of bankruptcy proceedings as a result of the freezing of the accounts by the Royal Bank of Scotland and the end of the company.

The largest single shareholders of Telesens were the company founder Genadi Man and T-Venture, a venture capital company of Deutsche Telekom. The issuing house Goldman Sachs also held relevant shares.
