Televisão de Moçambique , TVM ( Television of Mozambique ), is the national television broadcaster of Mozambique .
history
The station was founded in 1979 as "Experimental Television" (TVE) and at that time could only be received in Maputo and the neighboring town of Matola. Two years later, TVM began broadcasting, and since then it has been the only television station in Mozambique that can be received via satellite in the entire country and also in some neighboring countries. Its program is broadcast 18 hours a day and is a full program, ranging from news programs and sports reports to feature films and series. It has been broadcast daily since 1981 and since then also under the name Televisão de Moçambique or the abbreviation TVM. State television is increasingly competing with international television stations such as CNN , BBC World News and Al Jazeera .
On March 8, 2012, the second TV program TVM-2 was set up to celebrate the station's 31st birthday.
Organization and financing
TVM is headquartered in the capital, Maputo .
The broadcaster receives around 60% of its budget from the country's government, the rest, among other things, from advertising income. It is also supported in the area of training and equipment by the United Nations Development Program .
